we all know that sweet + salty is a darn good match. well, recently, i had the idea to add a special little touch to a batch of chocolate chip cookies that i baked. i topped them with a light sprinkling of fleur de sel, a lighter tasting salt that is a great compliment to sweets {you may have heard of fleur de sel caramels?}. it lends the perfect salty bite to keep a it from being too sweet, and it takes your regular ol’ chocolate chip cookie up a notch.
Cara, Nancy offered a cookie to us when we were at her home and I have to tell you these are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten. I am not much of a chocolate chip cookie fan because they are too sweet but these were great.
thanks daddy-o!
Sounds yummy! Did you sprinkle on the fleur de sel before you baked them, or when they came out of the oven? Also, can I buy the salt at a grocery store?
i put the fleur de sel on before baking so it sticks a little. i’ve seen it at our hy-vee before, and i’m sure yours would have it too. it’s with a bunch of other specialty salts close to the meat section.
